Just tried the Geek test and got geek-ish tendencies of 12%. I feel somewhat disappointed ;-)
Why is Weezer geeky?!?
And doesn't everyone know the difference between fission and fusion.....geeze! In all honesty, this came up today while I was at the post office. As an aside, this is not a kilt story. Anyway, the clerk was trying the Fonz method of making her LASER scanner work by banging it on the desk. I advised her that the infrared LASER receiver was likely getting confused on the bar code due to poor lighting design of having a fluorescent light about 3 feet above the desktop which cycles at 60Hz, most likely the same as the receiver. Therefore, she should hold her postal items vertical or slightly tipped over and try the LASER scanner at a 90 degree angle. It worked of course. Then I said "what would we do without LASERS? " After she responded negatively, I told her that they are proposing on using LASERs to create a sustainable fusion reaction in Europe for power generation. She asked me what was "fusion?" And THAT's where I realized that not everyone knows the difference between fusion and fission.
Oh God...as I write this I realize that I MUST have missed a few answers on the geek test! Help!

Reason: wrong word
That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons of history.

Um. That would be fusion. They've had sustainable fission reactions in Europe -- and most of the rest of the "first world" -- for at least fifty years, now.
On topic, however, congrats on wearing your kilt to work. That's inspiring.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I am pretty lucky. My boss works in another town about 1.5 hours away. I see him maybe twice or three times a year. I haven't heard any rumblings from him or HR yet so until I do I'm good. But like most of you I do like my job, and can't afford to loss it. If the company tells me no at some point in the future I will probably push back a little, but it's not worth getting fired over for me.
3 years ago, i asked if I could wear my Kilt to work on St. Patrick's day and I was told "No, that isn't considered formal attire" from the VP of the company.
You know I've always gone with the idea that it's easier to get forgiveness than permission.

Not that it's any of my business, but are you, by any chance, a single chap?

Isn't "fusion" that weird jazz where everyone just randomly plays crap that doesn't go together or make an actual tune?
