Thanks for all the replies. I guess I am pretty lucky. My boss works in another town about 1.5 hours away. I see him maybe twice or three times a year. I haven't heard any rumblings from him or HR yet so until I do I'm good. But like most of you I do like my job, and can't afford to loss it. If the company tells me no at some point in the future I will probably push back a little, but it's not worth getting fired over for me.
3 years ago, i asked if I could wear my Kilt to work on St. Patrick's day and I was told "No, that isn't considered formal attire" from the VP of the company.
You know I've always gone with the idea that it's easier to get forgiveness than permission.
