I don't know how old your son is but if he's of younger age, it will be considered only correct parenting if you still let him go kilted after you had a talk about how "people can be close minded and negative towards things that are strange to them at first".

It's something they'll learn anyway, if not now then later on with whatever they do that their environment disapproves about. So might as well have them be loud, proud and prepared! :-)

You can tell him that he can always take off his kilt whenever he wants to, but that it'll take those people a lot more time before they'll have a nice and open mind like he has, let alone his courage and the bravery to stand up for yourself.


(it does depend on your kid though, if you think he's too shy then it may not be a good approach, you're the best one to judge!)

Either way kudos to him for wanting to do what causes even grown men to pause (unnecessarily yet it does), at least for the first outing.
