There is a tribute to John Allen Cameron on the thursday before the games as he died this year. The Mudmen are a great band and good friends also they wear CCK"S so that alone is worth the trip up friday. As for a camp site I am going to the office tomorrow to beg for an extra site.

Feel free to mention my name. Won't make a lick of difference but it makes me seem important.

Oh, shoot, that makes my comments sound really tacky. I didn't know that. I'm sorry.
Now I remember, they did some dedication thing for him last year, didn't they.
Sorry, again.

They did do a dedication concert for John Allen two years ago at our 60th anniv. year. John Allen was going down hill back then. It was a last minute put together but they were able to get Quagmire, Seven Nations and Great Big Sea to travel some distance on these bands rare days off to come. They came because of the influence he has had of the celtic music scene in North America. Considering the short notice they brought in 5-6000 ppl in for the concert. That was his last year as acting ambassador. He passed on the torch to his son (Stuart) and they made it official a few weeks ago that he is the new ambassador to the games.
Haven' t announced any names for this concert but they got a $100,000 grant to put on the show. Again it's a little more notice than the last but it's still hard to attract entertainment at the last moment. A lot of bands book early for summer and are booked else ware that evening. May be they are going to bring in some more influenced (By John Allen ) and traditional musicians from Cape Breton. His Niece is Natalie Mcmaster and he influenced musicians like Ashley MacIssac etc. We'll have to wait and see. I'll post if I hear anything.
And yes the Mudmen are back!!!!! The music for the pub nights are a little week this year (Waited till the last minute to book bands again and missed the boat) except for the Mudmen on Saturday night. They are going to blow the tent roof off for sure.
Can't wait to see you all there. My wife and I will be without our kids all weekend. Help MacHummel sell kilts by day, turn it up a notch by night.
