    One of the best books, if you want to do your own, is called "Celtic Art: The Methods of Construction" by George Bain. I've found it quite helpful.

    I'll second that book. I know a NUMBER of artists who USE that book to create their work.
    I also have a copy. It is VERY easy to use.

    George Bain used to live down the road in Drumnadrochit and this summer there's an exhibition, lecture and workshops on Celtic art, (more details.)

    Here's some of our own Celtic and Pictish art and designs, some of which has been used on tatoos.
