Argyle jacket cuffs

What you may have wanted was a Crail or Braemer Jacket. Typically those are less ornamental than an Argyle.




I'd gamble that the cuff is surface applied over the sleeve so there should be a full sleeve under there. What I'd be afraid of though is that if the jacket is old enough to show signs of wear, the visible sleeve may have faded and removing the cuff will only show the darker original color of the jacket

Does the jacket have shiny buttons on the cuffs? If so, you might could sub-due the appearance a bit by replacing them with bone, wood, or horn buttons that are brown or black.

Check the gift shop at Matt's museum. They make a modern kilt jacket with no "fluff."

This is of course the current problem...I'm still learning.
Yes, the jackets in the photos above are more my thing, and fancy cuffs - although probably perfect for more formal presentation - I just feel are too theatrical for getting in the weekly shopping (if you know what I mean). Something smart and clean lined.
The jacket already has horn buttons (I think they're horn - they're brown and have irregular raised ridges across them. I know they're not plastic as every one is different.
I turned down the top of a cuff, and there is a slight difference of colour - not a lot, but probably noticeable if the whole cuff is removed.
I guess I shall have to try to live with it then, and look out for a Crail or Braemar one next time.
