Many thanks for the great photos Alex and Martin - a fine souvenir of a great day - and, Boy! weren't we lucky with the weather. Probably the first day without a drop of rain for weeks!!
It was good to meet up with David and his family again (and to meet Une from 'The Pub' for the first time). A pity though that my old sparring partner, Dame Bella Goatcabin was not able to make it - the ravages of the years, y'know!. Jolly good too that Martin (No, not Martin from France!!!!) was able to drive over from Warwickshire for his first X Marks encounter - look forward to seeing you again Martin. Jim braved the Motorways to drive up from Surrey, Derek with his wife, son and daughter-in-law to be came from furthest Wiltshire and brave Alex travelled the length of the country by train, plane and bus to be with us. I was staying locally with friends and so did not return home until Monday. My photos will have to wait a day or so, I fear.
The mystery tartan? No Jim, I'm afraid that was not the fellow I spoke with, the one who was wearing the gorgeous Red Gordon kilt! The one Alex snapped could also so easily go on my 'wants' list and I'd say it is a weathered something or other, but I don't have time now to plough through my works of reference to pin it down - it IS almost 2.00am after all !!
More, with photos, soon.
