Cool Pics! Question. Why are they sitting down, at a table, during the ceremony? Does it symbolize anything?

It's a regular civil marriage, the lady opposite is the registrar and the other couple at the table are the witnesses. There are two or three documents to sign, so I imagine sitting at a table is just more practical (and a little more romantic) than a clipboard. We're all standing up to get a better view of those fateful signatures!
In most of Europe there has to be a civil ceremony, even if a church wedding is planned.
In fact my own wedding took place in Denmark, with the church ceremony the day after in Germany!
