Elsie Scott Stuehmeyer... has a picture from Everest base camp of a Sherpa, who had summitted Everest, wearing the kilt she had made for him.
Thanks for the reminder. I was thinking that with all the Scots in mountaineering, some one must have been kilted in Base Camp, at least. I agree that it's very cool that a Sherpa was kilted.
Note that it did not say he summited in the kilt. It gets to -40 degrees up there, and at -40 it doesn't matter which scale you're using.

If anyone has the photo of the guy piping to the penguins in Antarctica I believe that is of one of my kilts that wintered over in '05.
