Some people have expressed some awe that a "traditionalist" like myself might wear sandals or a Hawaiian shirt with a kilt. To be honest I haven't "changed my mind" about anything, this is just the only kilt in my current wardrobe that I think would accomodate this look.
I still count myself the traditionalist (as I said, a "hand-sewn heavyweight wool kind of guy"), but that doesn't mean I have to be a rigorist. Would I wear that outfit to a Burns Supper, or even to a Highland Games (which, to me, is a professional setting as I represent the museum when I attend that type of gathering)? No, I wouldn't.
But worn casually? Why not? There is no "traditional" reason not to!
I would wear the same eaxct outfit with a pair of kakhi shorts. And that's how I view this kilt in my wardrobe -- the same as a pair of kakhi shorts.
Like I said, I'm sure it will get A LOT of use in the summer months.
