Ask them if they play the steel guitar. Isn't everyone in Levi's a country musician?

    Ha ha. That's great.

It's something awkward though to hear the same bagpipes remark over and over again from people who think they are witty. A test of patience sometimes ... lol.

On days when I feel like I've had enough, I just tell them in a serious tone that I'm trying to get a Section 8. My elders get the MASH joke.

The other day at Trader Joes a younger fellow was my cashier. He looked at my attire and asked me if I played the foghorn...

I let him know that I sadly didn't have a lighthouse.

    Cheers

The car dealer's wife's comment might sound idiotic to you, but really, what else did you expect? It's not like this is Scotland where a kilt is not given a second glance. And her comment is not stereotypical. For North America her comment is perfectly reasonable given that probably the only time she (and most people) see kilts, they're being worn by bagpipe playing persons.

Look at this as an opportunity to educate, and bring awareness. Who knows, maybe you'll convert the car dealer and get big car discounts.

/wishes car had a cd player to play bagpipe music at traffic lights.....
