Never, ever forget. Semantics aside, you are a dude wearing a skirt. That gives you license to wear what you want.

Personally, I don't dress much differently, kilted or otherwise. The vast majority of my wardrobe naturally goes together. Heck, I've worn a tropical print shirt and flip flops with my utilikilt.

However. Don't ever, ever, ever wear white socks with a kilt, or sandals and socks for any reason. Both of these instantly mark you as a goober.

I am prone to wearing my sporran with my UK and wearing my kilts on my hips vice above my navel. Both are offenses that would cause the pious around here would mock me as an infidel. However, I figure there is no reason being different if you are going to be different in the same way as everyone else who has decided they want to be different too.

You have a good idea already of what looks good on you. go with it.
