    Gents,

For those interested in a Leather Kilt Jacket from Stillwater but wishing more details I would suggest you email Jerry V. at Stillwater and perhaps ask him for a few more detailed photos. If you have concerns about the sleeve length just ask him how long they are.

Generally the best way to get the right information is to go to the source.

    Cheers

    Jamie

Is that your polite way of saying don't ask anymore? I can take a hint.

I know I can ask Jerry but I was looking for some kind of review. It must be the only product he has that nobody here bought.

I won't bump this anymore, well, I know I did right now, but I won't anymore.

    Aa,

That wasn't my intention. I can appreciate how a unbiased and critical review from a X Marker would be extremely helpful.

It is just I have noticed sometimes that people ask about details, concerns, or updates on a product from the members of the forum before they ever think of just asking the company. I have had questions for Jerry (Stillwater), Steve (Freedom Kilts), Rocky (USA Kilts), Seamus (SportKilt), Matt (Scottish Tartans Museum), and Mark (Frugal Corner) and gotten quick responses by PMs and email from each.

So keep asking (bumping) by all means till you get your answer. But in the meanwhile I'm sure there are other members of the board who would appreciate the information as well.

Hmmmm. Why don't I just take the bull by the horns and email Jerry and ask him for more pictures...

    Cheers

    Jamie

...or a sample for review purposes? As a mod, you've got that credibility but then you might have neutrality rules (what's the work I'm thinking of?). Although, he's the only one offering anything like that so there can't be favouritism.

What an absolutely smashing idea! The only problem I can forsee with this scheme is that I can clearly envision a smoking crater and a very flattened Panache in it's center. I see Mike1 walking away with his his hammer over his shoulder shaking his head sadly and saying "tsk, tsk".

In honesty the XMTS staff are members first. We all have preferences in the vendors we support and tend to be quite loyal to them (did you know that Mike1 gets his hammers from the same place that Sauron got his mace? He just swears by them for smiting*). I have never once been told that the Mods have to hold back either praise or criticism of a vendor. I think it says something about the quality of our vendors that almost every single purchase I have made from them has been a positive one.

    Cheers

Hi, Jamie pointed this thread out to me, I really don't feel it is appropriate to constantly chime in due to the obvious conflict of interest, but here goes:

We have been enjoying slow but steady sales of our leather kilt jacket, and received several very favorable comments from those who ordered them or have been lucky enough to see one in person. We are nearly out of some sizes. On a personal note, I have not worn my Argyle jacket even once now that I have my leather jacket. I consider this jacket an essential part of my kilt wardrobe.

Quality-wise, I would put them up against any leather blazer you would find at your local mall leather store. Anybody is welcome to order one to try it out, they are welcome to return it (in new condition) if they don't like it. I can't imagine I left any details out of the admittedly wordy description, but anybody who contacts us directly will of course get their questions answered.

Please note that we are not scheduling our next batch of jackets until November, so there could be a wait if your size sells out.

If you decide to order a jacket, feel free to use the code JKTFREESH during checkout to get free US shipping, that code expires in a few days.

    Take care,

    Jerry

    Thanks for chiming in.
My opinion, FWIW, is you're not in conflict of interest if there's no other vendor with a similar product and you're not having a public debate with a customer issue. Those should probably stay private.
At this point you're giving consumer info and that's fair enough.

Here's the thing: you have a good rep for quality and service, so that's good. I'm in Canada, if there's an issue it gets complex and expensive to return to the states. I'm not a particularly fussy customer when it comes to most things but I have worked with leather for a long time (a long time ago) so I am more picky about that. Generally, though, garment leather is good. The black colour sometimes has a green base, I don't like that. Fit can be delicate, fortunately, I tend to find the average body build so things usually fit. And, of course, I am fussy about my "kilt look".

All that being said, I really like the concept. I think others do too. I am seriously considering ordering for early October as I said earlier. Just trying to avoid any issues.

Is there more pictures you could post? Here, if the mods allow it, or pm, or on the store site. Again, it's not like anybody else has this kind of thing.
