They possibly think I've an interest in the various tartans I wear as well, so should I ever resort to a plain kilt one day, that thought will also be shot down, and they'll probably think it even stranger.
I always enjoy being kilted when I go out - no regrets there - and being so prominently clothed has not lost its magic so far. I have excellent hearing and find the various comments passed between people, who are assuming I'm out of earshot, fascinating. None yet have been offensive in any way. But I'm always labelled Scottish in their comments. It would be a bit good if folk could one day recognize that not all in kilts come from Scotland. But the image is too deep rooted.
Just out of interest, are those who wear plain kilts dubbed Scottish just as much?
A woman in a tartan kilt is not always assumed to have Celtic origins, but a man in one is. Whatever happened to equality? Still, I suppose if you go around looking like your from that neck of the woods, people can be reasonably excused for believing it.

    Love your Avatar!

I'm collecting dandelions and drying them to ensure I have some for my crest badge for the upcoming Highland Games I'll be attending this fall. Now if the Wizard of BC will just get some XMTS kilt pins!

And apologize to you all in getting off the topic. And yes, I regret not wearing the kilt sooner, but I'm making up for it!!!!

Now here's an idea - but presumably goes beyond the boundaries of good taste:

Embed a dandelion flower in a clear resin disc. That way you'll have a real one to wear forever, out of season or not. Sorry. Wash my mouth out.
