this is sorta off topic...but does anybody remember an anime series from the late 70's called Star Blazers? I vaguely remember the starship Yamamoto and that big cannon that blew whole planets up.

I do! I believe the cannon was the mighty "Wave Motion Gun".

Note to self, remember not to attack Spaceship Yamamoto from the front! It has a REALLY big gun that only shoots forward.
Also pick up dry cleaning and get frozen potstickers on the way home after work.
Tivo LOST as it's Shark Week on Animal Planet.

I was always waiting for the Space Battleship Missouri to show up and hand them their collective hat.

The mention of how many times Kirk has handed the Klingons their @$$@$ just makes me think how appropriate it would be if the next Trek franchise featured a Klingon version of Homer Simpson. K'd'oh!
It was, let's admit, hard to think of Christopher LLoyd as a Klingon in Search For Spock without having the Reverend Jim from Taxi in the back of your mind. For that matter, let's get Danny DeVito in there as a Starfleet Admiral.
Anyway, I'm enjoying this discourse...many of you have obviously spent a whole lot more time reading a whole lot more Sci-Fi than I have and it's great to read your opinions.

In an interview, Leonard Nimoy mentioned how there was concern about Lloyd as the main villan, could he do it and convince audiences? He's a brilliant actor, and I think his portrayal is great, it's always nice to see actors do somthing different. Obviously, in the end they decided he could do it.
I think they need to do a new version of "The Trouble With Tribbles" and have Danny DeVito as Cyrano Jones, Ronny Cox as the insufferable Commissioner, and Richard Dean Anderson as my dear Captain Koloth.

Richard dean Anderson as Koloth...great idea. I'm still trying to absorb the idea that "Sylar" (Zachary Quinto) is going to be "Spock" in the next ST flick.

there are obviously a lot of better cooler ships than Kirk's Enterprise, but i'm going to put my vote in for the Enterprise as well. I think a perfect addition to their superior crew though would be MacGuyver.
