Because constructive criticism is always welcome with me, did my socks match properly in your opinion? Im not sure what you are meaning by this statement. Also has anyone else substituted traditional knitted kilt hose for over the calf dress socks?

Once again,my apologies for going off topic.I think that in the UK a man would not often have a wedding ring, although I was at my niece's wedding a few weeks ago and her husband did have a wedding ring. She informed me that it is not unusual these days.I really must keep up with fashions!Thankyou all for your comments on this matter.

Many of the better stationary shops carry leather pen/pencil holder. some for a single pen, some for multiple pens. These then to be of soft leather and will "close" once the pen has been removed. I have seen some that are made from stiff leather and would hold the top open for easy reinsertion of the pen but still have enough tension to keep the pen in place.

To take this thread onto a third way as JS said "kit" really refers more to equipment rather than clothes where the term "Rig" is more appropriate (although abit nautical)

Regardless of what else has been said, I think you looked great.
A lot of people start out with hiking socks or dress socks and plenty of people use their hose to store things.
You're doing just fine.
Take care.

The couple look great. Both blue eyes? I don't usually put anything in my hose if I can avoid it, other than for a sgian dubh. You'll just have to get a larger sporran or a kilt with cargo pockets.
"Kit" is a military term used in Canada to mean your "stuff"/equipment. To "kit and muster" means to draw or put on your uniform/etc and meet somewhere, as on the parade square.
Hiding his wedding ring from the lassies in his hose, hasn't increased Grant's number of kilt checks.

You might want to eventually order a Thorfinn Sporran from Turpin. He builds in a special compartment for a cell phone on the inside.

You looked great! I have worn OTC socks on occasion. I have a couple of pairs that are just long enough to look right; and luckily they'll stay up without garters. When plotting my first kilt purchase, I picked up some long wool-blend hiking socks at end-of-season sales: those work, too.

No, no, no, you looked fine. The dark socks worked well and you're slim enough that everything balanced.
My comment was that it is hard to find good kilt knee socks because you either have to order, hoping they are right, or look at a store/booth's limited selection.
There was a bad joke in there because I realized it could be read that it was hard to match socks to each other. I figured that you knew how to do that. I have a strange sense of humour.
