Super pics; fantastic scenery; marvellous steam train.
Is it part of the old Denver & Rio Grande Western system and does it link up with the Durango & Silverton Railroad?

No... actually the Georgetown Loop RR (www.georgetownlooprr.com) was used to move ore out of the mountains during the gold rush. It's a loop, which takes about 1 hr and 15 minutes to complete by train.

The Durango and Silverton is actually about an 8 hour car ride from Denver (in the SW corner of Colorado), and is a beautiful trip.

My favorite narrow guage railroad in Colorado is the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR (http://www.cumbresandtoltec.com/) which runs between Antonito, CO and Chama, NM - along it's journey you cross over the CO/NM border 11 times! It's spectacular! Back before everyone was worried about liability, as a small child, I got to make the journey in the Engine!! I've ridden this trip many, many times (I grew up near there) and never tire of the trip.

Great shots! Thanks for sharing. One of these days I'm going to take my kids over to ride a couple of these trains. Last time we were in that neck of the woods we were unable to take advantage of rides.
