Great pics, Q-Tip, the Islay ones especially brought back memories; around twenty years ago my work as a schools lawyer occasionally took me to Bowmore secondary modern school and I have often walked up and down that main street with the harbour and distillery at the bottom and the church at the top. Your photos of the celtic cross at Kildalton and inside the old Kildalton church are particularly poignant.

Yes I was suprised at the schools there and the community spirit.. We used the washing facilitites in the swimming pool and could see it was the centre of activity for Bowmore ;)

We spent the first day in bowmore trying to find somewhere to by a wind jacket for my wife hers went missing on the trip up there!! I was suprised to here the locals all go to the mainland to buy there clothes as there is not really anywhere except the distillaries to buy cloths!!

Well the cross it was a nice trip there it was raining the whole day, on the way over as we crossed on the the reserver we saw a stag standing in the rain my wife wanted me to take a photo but it was raining after all ;)
But we arrived at the church yard I was a little disappointed to see some of the grave stones pushed over and decaying but the cross kind of made the trip worth while. a very peaceful resting place I think for the people buried there!!
