    you know, as a lady we learn how to umm... do the do in a skirt gracefully at about 5. I had never even thought of it as a skill.

    I guess it's like a language. If you learn it before 12 you'll always be better at it than if you learn it late. Alas.

    I do think kilts are a bit different. There are all the pleats to consider...I feel they make the kilt a slightly different animal.
    Anyway, my normal porta-potty method is to hold it until I'm at a real bathroom. It works right up until when they start halving the beer prices at the end of a festival/ceilidh...
    I may have to study the cossack's methods.

    I just pull the back of my kilt up and the sides around me, then tuck the ends in my belt or the front of the apron. It holds itself up and even though it spreads the pleats out, it doesn't seem to cause any problem when I put the back back down.
