Be careful using the term "family crest"...as they say here in the Ozarks, "there ain't no such animal" in heraldry.

More like a coat-of-arms that belonged to someone with the surname of Wolfe. There is no such thing as "family arms" in Irish heraldry. Don't let the "bucket shops" tell you otherwise.

That being said, it's none of my business if you choose to wear it -- but, much like the mantra of "know your tartan", know that it is not "your family crest", but the arms of someone who shares the same surname (and who may or may not be related to you).

No one's yelling at you, btw. This is what I did as a genealogical librarian.

My apologies to Jamie for going OT in his thread about his great-looking new sporran.

Good looking sporran and a fine review Jamie. It goes very well with your weathered tartan.

Sometimes - Trades seem to be the most satisfying ways to broaden our wardrobe. Good show - now, take extra care with the sgian.

Actually, I do know all that. I was just joking around. I actually have ben tossing around the idea of designing one for my family, so it actually will be a true family crest. Truth is- I like the one used by that someone with my surname who may or may not be related to me. So I decided to use it. And to keep this on topic- I will also be posting pics and reviews when my A_Hay sporrans arrive- which will be this afternoon with any luck
