Questions for the military veterans here

Thanks guys for writing and responding to this link. I have very strong family roots to the Navy (through my grandfather who was a Pearl Harbor survivor and retired Admiral) and the Marines (my father served two tours in Vietnam and I was named after his best friend who lost his life in RVN). I have been considering the chance to honor my family's military heritage with a kilt in one/or both of these tartans. I'm still wrestling with the idea if it is acceptable or not for me to wear them; however, your comments have given me a lot to consider and think about. Thank you.
