			Beards and kilts

Is it just me? Am I over-sensitive to beards because I have one? -Or is one very common kilt accessory the beard?
Kilts and beards seem to go together nicely.

I think of the kilt as a beard accessory but then I've had facial hair for a long time, and it's part of me. The kilt is something I wear.

IMHO the beard has been seen as a shift away from the norm in America for a number of years. So those of us that wear beards are already shifty so a move to being kilted is not that far a move.
Which came first the kilt or the beard?

Hmmm, I don't have a beard, and I kind of have a look younger than I am thing going on that seems to be working ok. However, I would agree that a beard that looks good on a guy goes great with a kilt. There are though, many different kinds of beard styles, and I'm not sure they would all go well with a kilt... I might go for that "I haven't shaved in a week" kind of beard.

I grew up in a coastal town (that just happened to have a bagpipe band) and spent much of my youth on the water. Many of the old guys had beards, tattoos, and gold rings in their ears. I always figured that when I grew up I would also have these things. I don't have a tattoo (too expensive) but the rest I have. The pipes and kilts were part of the same thing. These were, to me, the coolest things in the world.I think also that there is a certain nod to history that we all seem to have.

That's what I've done this past year (since shaving my beard). Works out pretty good - so you should try it.

I'm an artist, so some times I lock myself up in my studio/house working on a sculpture for a couple of weeks. Usually during those spells, I shave with one of those beard trimmers on the closes setting so I don't have to mess with all the foam and stuff. It would work as a look I think.

Kilt, goatee and piercing. This seems to work out pretty good, as is expresses a few pieces of my personality... as does the shaved head.
