WOW, I'm very impressed - you really know about saxophones, Brian!
Yep, it's a Buescher C-Melody sax (serial# 151808). I figure it's somewhere around 90 years old (original case, too). My great-uncle gave it to me when I started playing sax, back in 1965. It had just been sitting out in his garage for many years. We had to replace all the pads & cork, but it's been a great little instrument ever since. I've always enjoyed the tone of it & the fact that I don't have to transpose stuff; never understood why they stopped makin' 'em.
From your ID & knowledge, I'm guessing you play sax, too. What one(s) do you have?

Hey Retro!
I didn't want to hijack your thread, so I just sent you a PM. I forgot to mention though....there's a new c-melody that just came on the market. You can read about it at the saxontheweb.net forum (c-melody subforum). It's getting some really good reviews. Not that you want to give up that classic Buescher though. BTW, i really like that utilikilt....is that the postal blue? It looks pretty sharp.

When we take down the tree in January, I strip the branches off, saw it up, tie it up in a bundle, and put it in the garage until the next Christmas morning, when we burn it in the fireplace as a memory of Christmases past.

I'm relieved! though a mere flute player, I was looking at those pix & thinking Either Retro Red is bigger than I thought, or that's a C melody!.

Retro,
We had the same idea this year. And had a blast!

Gee, the main Christmas tradition in our family is to eat much more than we really should, then sit around recuperating (i.e. napping).

In our family, it's the "Gorge 'n Groan". Gorge on food, then groan when we discover we ate too much.
