No, swords are not regulated, nor have I ever heard of any sort of license. Some individual municipalities may have local regs that I'm unaware of.
The only folks I've ever heard of having their swords confiscated, or otherwise paid attention to, are criminals being arrested for some other violation. The cops generally scoop up all found weapons in such a scenario....

I quite often wear a "Scots" basket hilt. (see my "intro pics)

NOTE - I wear my Basket hilts ALWAYS from a bardic. Why?? The weight of the sword & historically that is correct.

I make my own baldrics.. Why??
1 because they are cheaper tha way (less than $50.00)
    2. The "commercial ones do not "hang" correctly )IMHO) Tooo great a "cant" & that causes proplems moving & hitting people with your sword

The sword in the pics is a "brass hilted "regimental" sword" (it is unsharpened) It is the one, I now wear only when I am concerned with conforming to regs that do not allow SHARPENED swords.I has a metal scabbard. here is a pic of the baldric + scabard. Note it hangs with only a slight "cant" & can be adjusted.

My current BEST sword is one from Armour Class & it is sharp. This is the one I PREFER to wear (when reg.s allow )
Here is a pic. NOTEThis not a pic of my "rig", But mine is VERY sim. My sword is on loan to friend for a wedding. In this case the scabard is in a "frog.

OKAY, where do I wear them??
    1. Highland games,ML rendezvous,
    2. Social occations
    3. casual wear on the street (okay - some times when I am in the mood.)

    Hope this helps
& to me wearing a basket hilt, is like wearing a Dirk.
