I agree with Jim-- non-functional pistols are really only clubs shaped like guns... as expensive as they are, a real steel pistol is not only cool to shoot, if you save up and buy an antique pistol, they are a hell of an investment. Generally speaking antique arms keep well ahead of the annual rate of inflation. Not that wives are terribly sympathetic to this line of arguement.

Most of my neighbors invest in canned food along with those types of things, te he. I think you can insure the items you are talking about unlike some of the investments in rare coins and so on which is a big plus.

I agree. I can not afford an antique, but do carry a Repo. & it is FUNCTIONAL.
You can order a "non-functional & have a Person who is familiar drill the touch hole.WARNINGThese guns are made in India & are not PROOFED. Use LIGHT loads ONLY.
IMHO, the best ones come from here

And this one:

I've made two or three baldrics. They're fairly easy if you have the right leather and buckles available....

If your looking for a modern reproduction, authentic in every detail of construction, and just as an original except newer, then I cannot recommend this chap highly enough.

It's their old "early" basket hilt, from about 12 years ago (actually more of an English dragoon style). Their current models are much nicer...!
