I set up a dance floor in our back yard for a party a couple of years ago. It was quite easy. 3 sheets of oriented strand boar (Osb) and a couple of 12 foot 2x4s I wish I could draw you a picture of it , but it was quite simple. The only drawback was what to do with it after the party. Congratulations and good luck.

I'm glad Ron got right to the real issue here.
You are one lucky man!
One question to consider for the rent/buy side, is will you or your groomsmen be using the kilts jackets after the wedding? If not, they could probably unload them here......
Anybody wear a size 50 jacket?

Thanks Mac. I really am a lucky fool. I don't know. The more I read, the less convinced I am in wearing the kilt for the wedding.

I thought about doing this with CDX. I'm going to need a good deal of square footage, though. Did you use 7/16", and how did you keep it from sagging in the middle?

Hey!! Congrats! I got married over the summer myself. We had a kilted wedding. The local Celtic shop here rents just the jacket/vest set by themselves, so you could ask your local shop for the same thing.

Well, if it's only the cost that has got you worried and makes you want to hold back on the kilted wedding, just wait. There are so many kilted geniuses on here, I'm sure we'll be able to come up with something. It's your wedding after all!
If however there are other factors, well just do what you want. It's your wedding after all!

Congrats to you and your lady. A kilted wedding would be a grand site if you can work out the details. I would point out another consideration if I may. Since you only live 2 hours west of me you may already have thought of this. October is the month in Texas where the weather changes from hot and humid in the first half of the month to more frequent cool fronts with more moderate temps in the second half. For an outside wedding, timing can be the difference between a sauna and a more enjoyable experience. The closer you get to November the better outdoor weather your most likely to experience. All the best.
