Congratulations Colin on acquiring a real beauty.
I traded with Rab for one and it is superb.
Last summer I was on a Bus tour that passed through a village near where he lives, but unfortunately did not stop. I did get to chat with him on the phone while there. If I get another chance to go to Scotland, I will try to stop in a visit. He has posted pictures of his homestead, near Loch Ness and it looks like a cozy place.
He is a great guy.

Hi Colin,
You're very welcome and I'm glad that you like it.
Thank you and to everyone else for the kind words.
As you may guess, I actually enjoy making these and other things.
Unfortunately however, I'm temporarily banned from the workshop until I'm recovered from a cold that's left me with a very bad cough.
So in the meantime here's my recipe for a hot toddy without any hot water:
2 fingers of Whisky (not a malt as that would be a waist unless it's Glenfiddich )
Tablespoon of Lemon juice
Teaspoon of Honey
Stir well and microwave for approx 30 seconds

When you get bored of that, add some boiled cranberry juice to switch it up and add another kick of vitamins and antioxidants. tasty!

For the life of me, I can't figure out what the lemon juice and honey are for.....? Is that some kind of built-in chaser?

Since he has a cold, they're for vitamin C, and for coating his throat. Same as if you drank tea with lemon and honey, just a little more exciting.
Andrew.

It's actually quite medicinal and is the only time that I add anything to my whisky, apart from more whisky

and as you said, you are not using a single malt with the exception of glenfiddich (no argument here). I use the Famous Grouse for my "cold" remedies and hot toddies.

Is anyone else having trouble getting Rab's pages to load? When clicking both links in his signature I get a "Firefox cannot load this page" error message.
Or is there a secret way to hold your tongue when clicking?
