Nighthawk, it takes a crazy man to be a father and... what you are. I would say that you are balanced, and that's what you have to learn in this world. You have to re-learn it sometimes to. You spoke the truth, and that is good.

    BTW
I know it hurts to hear that you are balanced, but you said what you said.

When I was a teen and my parents had reservations about my doing something, I would usually do something 10 times more extreme so that we would compromise in such a way that I would get what I wanted from the beginning, and they would be grateful that I was happy with that. It has never been easy training parents.

So, in your case you might annouce that you have decided that wearing a great kilt with targe and your face painted blue to school, or a toga, or full Viking regalia, or dressing like a geisha is what you really want to do, or put up lots of posters from Rocky Horror Picture Show in your room, and then compromise on wearing a simple kilt.

    Just a thought

    Food for thought:
I wish I still had a Father to argue with.

Just so I don't go out on a limb, I'll say this. I do not have children and intend to not have children. I don't know anything about raising children or being a father. Don't look at me, I didn't do it.
