Oops, it is C3PO. LOL! I'll go attach a correction, thanks. Oh, and he didn't have hair either.

I think I would want a poster of Vader sitting at a cafiteria table with a styrofoam cup and a cigar; 3CPO sitting next to him. That's what I'm hearing with my third eye...

Alright, String, I'll confess. I've put sun tan lotion or sun block lotion in my hair... Sometimes it helps when I have to go outside in the day. I mean the sun is brutal over here. So there! If String can use sun tan grease in place of bear grease, then I am an idiot told by a tail! Um... and I've used fake man made bear grease in my hair.
BTW
I brought that up to change the subject back to hair.

Sunscreen washes out better, and can be emergency detangler too. I have the kind of hair that dreadlocks in a couple days of no brushing, so I know many tricks to getting knots out.
My hair is mostly a traditional style BTW, long, rarely trimmed, and usually left to do whatever it wants as far as hair products go. The difference is that I wash it, and I keep it in a knot or a bun all the time.

Thanks for sharing that, String. My hair is very fine, but collectivly it is thick, like in a bundle or something. I can't really comb it when it is wet and I do spend time each morning, after washing it, picking knots out. I'm very pail, so try to stay out of the sun, but out here it can dammage your hair. Also, it can sunburn your scalp right through your hair if you don't wear a hat.
I've had friends that had the kind of hair that requires oiling of some sort, so I guess it isn't really weird... I hate it though when I get diatomatious earth in my hair while dusting the garden though, and the suntan lotion kind of traps it and keeps it from getting down into my scalp. I've looked into different desert plants for hair care too. I have like a bazillian aloe plants back there and some other stuff.. Kind of interesting.

I know nothing of desert plants, I killed my cactus, and Eastern Kentucky is actually just a few inches of rainfall short of being a temperate rain forest, seriously. Although summers are getting dryer and winters warmer, we're actually getting closer to an almost Mediterranean type climate.

I live in a cactus patch... Yucca root can make a good shampoo if you get it from a young plant. The leaves are ok too, but it takes more. I don't like going without washing my hair and so on, so I looked into soap making and stuff like that. Sage is good for brushing your teeth...
And yes for the rest of you, I have put aloe goo and cactus goo in my hair. On my face and arms for that matter. If you mix it with the clay in the soil out here, it makes an effective emergency suntan goop: Mud Face.
After all I am just a monkey. A baboon who can type with my feet. They give me gum to chew and it looks like I'm talking, LOL! I don't know anything about that.

Guess I'll get some bubble gum and be the baboon, String.
Anyway, I hope one day you are able to grow a cactus, String. Perhaps you might try a Japanese rock garden. You could have it in a tray and use a tiny little rake... then spend days and days stairing at it to place each stone. If you really want to make it exciting, grow your Japanese rock garden in a bottle. You could use bamboo knitting needles to reach inside and arange the stones. You might try knitting in a bottle too.

With all the talk as of late about Native reenactors I thought if anyone is interested you might wish to check out the following eGroup:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EWT_List/?yguid=309956929
...this is the home of the Eastern Woodland Trekkers (EWT). The EWT is dedicated to 18th C. Eastern Woodland (Native) Reenactors who are interested in Historical trekking, etc. They do discuss alot of related topics, including scalplocks, bear grease, clothing, etc.
Just thought I'd mention it.
