It doesn't take 10 minutes to fold up some tests and have a look at them. If you do, make the pleats about 3-4" to 7/8" at the hips and somewhat smaller at the waist (if it's going to be a standard 8 yard kilt), and pin them to hold them. Stand back about 15 feet, and see if you like it. The differences can be striking. And it really doesn't matter what the votes are - it's your kilt!
