I really want to wear mine to my Sunday School class, but I'm just not sure. I don't want to take the focus off God you know?

What age(s) are your Sunday school class? Is it a class you teach or attend?

In my case, our highschool program on Sunday nights is 3 1/2 hours long.
The first half hour is hang out /goof around time, followed by a shared dinner, then game, announcements, message & small group time.
So I figure after the first half hour the novelty will wear off, & besides I've already given everyone fair warning so they won't be as surprised

Man that sounds really wicked. But my Sunday School meets at 9:30 am and only lasts an hour. So it's normally all business and it's a 20 somethings class.

I mean I would be perfectly fine wearing one, but I'm not sure about the others and I don't want to force them to accept it. You know what I'm talkin about.

I've been wearing my kilts nearly full time for about 3 years now and the folks at church have become used to it. Some comment when the see someone else in a kilt and actually get in conversations that begin with, "Oh, a guy at our church wears a kilt all the time." One family is really somewhat fascinated. Their son (about 11 or so) saw my skean dbhu and asked, "is that a pocket knife? Cool, I want a kilt so I can wear a pocket knife too!" His sister absolutely loves the kilts and has to complement the ones she likes. Last week, I had on my USN tartan and as we were clearing the choir room she remarked to her grandmother, "Grandma, I think that blue one is the prettiest one; I really like those colors." Grandma's response? "I think that's my favorite one too." Too funny. I'd love to invite them to a celtic fest; I think the kids would have a ball.
If they outlaw guns, can we go back to using swords?

The only one you have to please is your creator. If church members don't like the kilt or say something rude, should they be there anyway. Do what you think is best. I did.

While I'd say wear it anyways, I understand what your saying /where your coming from.
If you guys have a function outside your normal class times then wear it there, if you want to break them in gently, otherwise I just say go for it.
It might cause a stir the first time, but they'll get use to it the more they see it, and as others have shown it'll more or less be business as usual.

I agree, try for a potluck or something where people aren't dressed as they usually would either. My church has monthly potlucks so there are plenty of opportunites. Of course we are known for eating over every prayer.
