Kilts in Church

If you guys have a function outside your normal class times then wear it there, if you want to break them in gently, otherwise I just say go for it.
It might cause a stir the first time, but they'll get use to it the more they see it, and as others have shown it'll more or less be business as usual.

I agree, try for a potluck or something where people aren't dressed as they usually would either. My church has monthly potlucks so there are plenty of opportunites. Of course we are known for eating over every prayer.

I started wearing a kilt to church about a year ago, but only after asking the minister his feelings. He had studied and worked in Scotland years ago and said he considered a kilt as fine dress, and as such appropriate for worship. As others, the comments are usually pertaining to "which tartan" and a bloodline discussion, or some comment about looking good. I've worn it serving communion, ushering, etc, all with equal comfort and reverence to our Lord.

I'll add my voice to the choir. I wear a kilt to church quite often, and always to Presbytery meetings and Presbytery level committee meetings. If I do not, then people always ask, "where's the kilt"?

Go for it, it is good for the rest of the congregation and their point of view. And you get to be comfortable.

I really want to wear mine to my Sunday School class, but I'm just not sure. I don't want to take the focus off God you know?

That's an important consideration, for church or any other function. You don't want to draw the attention to yourself instead of where it should be focused.

That being said, if you wear the kilt all the time and then didn't wear it to church, you would again have the attention drawn to you.

I wear a kilt to church a couple time a month. I even wear it when I'm preaching, and have had mostly positive comments. But then when your doing the preaching, people tend to put up with you quirks!

True, but soooo funny To listen to many folks you'd think that the apostles were all dressed in suits with white shirts and ties.

Church was actually the FIRST place I wore my kilt. No one batted an eyelash.
