    Hello Gents!

This is my first post on X-Marks the Scot and I'm glad to be counted among such an intelligent and eclectic group.

My wife fully accepts me wearing my kilt--around the house. However, whoa be unto me should I dare to venture out in it! I don't get it. I love the quote: "The death of fear is in doing what you fear to do." She found this quote to be solid reasoning but still refuses to be seen in public with me in my kilt. I have a Utilikilt original in Olive, bought it back in the summer. Love it, love the freedom, wish I'd bought one sooner. The thing is, she can't quite pinpoint what she fears about ME wearing a kilt and being with HER. She just continues to say "I'm not ready to do that yet"

Hope to see replys from you soon, lads!

Hey Dave Welcome to a wonderful Group.
Long ago I stood in the door of a C130 at two thousand feet and the Jump Master said Son,The death of fear is in doing what you fear to do,so jump allready.
So I did and i've been jumping ever sense.

So jump in. I think you need to venture out alone an test the waters.
Once you have done that and find its no big deal it will become second nature to just grab your kilt and go out.
Keep in mind however that a utilikilt is more or less a causual and perhaps you should give thought to something a bit more dressy for special events, such as out to dinner, etc.
Check out some of the Kilt sites at the top an you will find them very affordable.

I basically took that approach when I went white-water rafting a few months ago. Especially as that's just so not me...

But back to kilting: my wife is yet to discover my kilts. Y'see we've been separated for about 18 months and are on the verge of moving in back together. My mother won't be seen with me kilted, which is odd given she's a MacGregor... I hope my wife will like it. (I could have been kilted for my wedding, but she wasn't sure.)

    Wade.

Geez, I know I was lucky with the wife I got, but her only concern when I got my first kilt was, "Will you wear it more than once a year at the Celtic festival? I'm not factoring something that expensive into the budget if you only wear it once in a while." Sorry guys, but I cannot wrap my head around one spouse determining what the other wears. Compromise is in order if its something that does not look good, yet the wearer likes it, but something as nice looking as a good kilt being looked at that way boggles my mind.
If they outlaw guns, can we go back to using swords?
