The proscription is in Deuteronomy, so that would make it Jewish law - a bit older. So, you see here that, at the time, women were required to wear négligées and men were required to wear towels.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

I had that happen once. I told him to open a history book before he opened his mouth. You sound less stupid that way. He said "The only history book I need is the Bible." I told him to find me ONE passage where Jesus wore pants.

I wonder what he would have said if you wore a toga. That would have shut him up.

There are none. and it embrasses me when fellow Christians have nothing better to do then stir up trouble. Please allow me to apologize on his behalf for embarrassing the rest of us. It makes me want to cry when I hear stories like this. You did well with the gibberish, and I can only pray that someone will admonish him for his unChristian behavior.

Don't feel too bad, ChromeScholar...I had a guy I know tell me, when after he learned I wore kilts: "If I ever caught any of my boys wearing a dress, I'd kill him."
It's just ignorance. So don't worry or fret over it at all.

I don't care to wear a towel, but maybe we could get back to the girls in nighties.
Just remember when faced with folks like that--and this from another minister--you really can't fix stupid!
