I do have this leather vest. This outfit was just thrown together from what I had on hand.

I don't really like that belt buckle too much; it's too shiney. I do, however, like to wear the vest open like that with no tie for a casual look. Like I said, this was just thrown together. Now that I think of it, that kilt had just come out of the shipping box a short time before this picture was taken... I guess it's the first time, other than a belted plaid, that I had put on a kilt.

You know, there's a look that is just below casual dressy , but it isn't with a t-shirt. You might call it preppy... Maybe a kilt with an open collar polo shirt or button down with no tie. Not dress shoes, but something nicer than sneakers. I guess that is the level of dress I ame comfortable with.

And that level can be bumped a tad bit with a corduroy jacket, white button up shirt, and a tie... Just alittle nicer, but it isn't formal or even semi formal. That is where I am going with this outfit.

The lamont kilt can now be seen in the gallery, and the picture is removed.

Here's a question for all the roosters. Is it wrong to wear a scarf?

If it isn't wrong for a man to wear a scarf, is it wrong to wear a scarf with the driving caps that I wear like in this picture?

Back in high school... I guess fifteen to eighteen years ago, I did start wearing scarves in the couple of cool months we have out here. That was in combination with tight fitting leather gloves and a driving cap. I had a few different jackets, but I think one of them was tweed and I even wor a jean jacket with the woolly lining.

Needless to say, I didn't have many friends. I believe the only nice term that can be repeated here is "dork.," but even that isn't exactly a clean term...

I haven't always been a low class slob. In Jr. High, I used to wear suits to school... That was beaten out of me, but I did at one point very carefully work on ceramic hand building while wearing a suit. The teacher said that had never been done in his class before. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to change into clay garb.

I also wear what you call a driving cap in the winter. I think the cap, scarf, and my leather pilot's jacket look pretty cool. I suspect such on a high schooler may get the wrong attention, but I'm almost 50 and could care less what a kid with a bad completion thinks of how I dress...especially, when they wear their baggy pants almost down to their knees and ball caps at an angle. That looks even sillier, IMHO.

Ya, I hear you on the extra baggy pants (barbairian pants) and the sideways ball cap. I've heard those driving caps called a whole list of names, and I've never figured out what the "correct" name is. I've been wearing them most of my life though.

BTW, I don't really dress like a slob, it's just that my work in ceramics and also in farming require the handeling of mud and playing with fire.

Another issue that I'm trying to deal with is that I don't particularly care for brogue shoes or wingtips of any sort. I Prefer the round toe type dress shoe.

I have a pare of shoes that are made from wool tweed, and they match that driving cap back there in the pic. The problem with them is that the sole is a little more like a sneaker. That is, the sole of the shoe has a lip that comes up from the bottom an inch or so. Other than that I like them as dressy casual shoes.

I guess I really don't know enough about shoes.
