No idea. But she kind of looks like Charles Hawtrey in that last pic. Maybe I've stared at it for too long

Like the tartan, do not like the whole kit. The kit looks to much like the undertaker....

I like the tartan. I'm a fan of black and red. I also like the red lining in the jackets.

I don't know.... something about the gents in the first pic just throws me...

The gal though, well I like her look!

However on the whole kit, I'll reserve judgement until I can see a few more (and better) pictures of the whole ensemble

Whatever else one may think of the style of the outfits in my opinion the tartan looks great.
Mr Howie who i haved alot of respect for from his fresh and innovative ideas has done a great job here and he should be proud of the result.

I think the Edinburgh Castle guides look great !!

I agree. I think the fellow on the right looks particularly unhappy for some reason. And boy, are his knees blinding!

The more I look at the pictures, the more the outfit grows on me. It's like what you get when you cross a kilt with a mafioso, but I'm starting to like it.

I agree with your general observations. Firstly, I don't really care for the dark gray tartan with the red stripe. Secondly, when Historic Scotland has such a nice looking tartan.... why the need for this one?? Finally, I really, really can't stand those 21st Century Kilts pockets.

    There, I feel better.

    Well Howie will be upset

Seriously though, it's difficult enough to get many male Historic Scotland staff to wear a kilt as it is and I don't think the new ones will improve that, if anything the super trendiness might dissuade them. But although Edinburgh Castle is undoubtedly Historic Scotland's busiest and most popular property it is still part of the wider organisation. What wasn't absolutely clear in the article if if Historic Scotland staff just happened to be the models of a new concept rather than a planned re branding of Historic Scotland as a whole or just for Edinburgh Castle staff.

For those of you who haven't seen it, below is the tartan of Historic Scotland that has been mentioned in this thread. It's worn by the guides at Historic Scotland sites. I quite like it really.
