The dollar stinks against the Pound right now, but, truly, the best it's been since I started kiltmaking is about $1.47. For most of the time in the last 10 years before it started the steep climb, it was around $1.55-1.60. So, when this vendor is selling a kilt length of 16 oz tartan (including shipping) for 93 pounds, it would have cost $144.00 6 or 7 years ago and now costs $186.00. Yes, the prices have gone up, but we were never looking at an equivalent pound and dollar. And this vendor has great prices for tartan even in comparison to wholesale prices from the Scottish mills.
