anybody inclined to post pics of one they have, along with where you got it, that'd be great.

Reproduction brass 1841 Georgia militia hat pin, on the Georgia tartan.
Originally they were surmounted by an eagle, but in 1861 they were all broken and filed off...I've had it so long, I don't remember where I picked it up.

Museum replicas offers two antiqued brass brooches from the film "300" that I think would make nice kilt pins.

I have a really nice brass one, but I'm keepin' it
This one is way more on the pricey side, but I have always wanted one of these from Rudi at Celtic Empire http://celticempire.com/product.php?...ductId=1000064

Check any local Renfair as well. Usually they have booths that sell hat and bodice pins in all sorts of material and all sorts of designs. The only difference between a hat pin, bodice pin, and kilt pin is what article of clothing you stick it on.
Prices can range anywhere from $5 to $40, depending on what you want. Average is probably around $8-11.

I'm glad I called!

I had an ersatz "gold" celtic sword pin that I wore with this belt, but it disappeared a few weeks ago. I got it at the Gig Harbor RenFaire for ten bucks....just like you said.
I just need some time to go shopping at the Campbell Games!

However, as a fly plaid brooch, different story.
