SWK - Even when it goes wrong, it goes right

When it showed up and I had a chance to unwrap it, Mrs. Coder and I looked at it, and I almost kept it (she said the colours worked really well for me).

I was leaning that direction as well, until I looked up the pattern and found that it was a Black Watch. I've read the debates back and forth here about whether or not one should wear a tartan to which one isn't necessarily legally entitled. Personally, I'm ex-Army, and spent too much time in to develop a healthy respect for uniforms, and the need to not wear anything I haven't earned, and I don't have any connection with the regiment.

So, I just wouldn't have felt right wearing it, as nice as it was.

LOL. I think my theory of Jerry having Unladen Swallows is catching on. Glad I had an effect on these boards.

P.S. How do you STOP buying kilts? I seem to be picking them up at the rate of about one every two weeks, and I've got a couple of more planned out as soon Jerry gets them back in my size?

Um....I'm not sure you do. I guess when you get all the tartans you want. I have been able to stay steady at two, however, I keep checking the SWK site for an Irish National in my size, and I keep eyeing Sport Kilt for their Hunter Ancient (which is the same as Galbraith Ancient and my family tartan). I'm just apprehensive about Sport Kilt because a lot of people say the material is very light and that whole elastic band thing.

Jerry sounds like the man. I hope he gets some size 38 Irish Nat. Standards in soon. But yeah, I too have a lot of kilts I want to buy, it's like an obsession.

I second that. The second I see a 34 on that Irish National I will be placing another order. I'm beginning to think no one has told the American Kilties that we are supposed to be in a recession considering the amount of money we spend on our stuff. ;)

I understand where you are coming from, however, the Black Watch is now considered a universal tartan. It was the second kilt I bought (and a SWK Standard) and I love it.
