To be honest, I almost kept it.
When it showed up and I had a chance to unwrap it, Mrs. Coder and I looked at it, and I almost kept it (she said the colours worked really well for me).
I was leaning that direction as well, until I looked up the pattern and found that it was a Black Watch. I've read the debates back and forth here about whether or not one should wear a tartan to which one isn't necessarily legally entitled. Personally, I'm ex-Army, and spent too much time in to develop a healthy respect for uniforms, and the need to not wear anything I haven't earned, and I don't have any connection with the regiment.
So, I just wouldn't have felt right wearing it, as nice as it was.
