I thought of that infamous photo of the military officer sitting next to Queen Elizabeth when I read this. From another thread on here, the issue of his genitals showing might have been an urban legend, thanks to someone's ability with Photoshop.

On the other hand, looking at the photo originally published by the newspaper which caused the commotion, it did strike me that one can see a loooong way up the gentlemen's legs.

It wouldn't be hard, therefore, for a person to assume that s/he is seeing something there which they might not be. The mind likes to play tricks like that. Especially for those who are looking for them.
