Nothing wrong with that, Ted! I can, as many others, certainly relate.

That doesn't mean I won't also end up with the Gray Granite USAK semi-trad at some point. It's just been a mess weeding through all the tartan stuff trying to find the ones that are right for me.
This one will take care of the gray/black compatible tartan. I may have already found the brown compatible tartan, but that's a special weave.

The Perfect Tartan
I'm going to go ahead and put this link to Barb T.'s thread "Highland Granite kilt" because her description got me almost all of the way toward picking this tartan.
One of the reasons it's a perfect tartan for me is that it has a tweed-like marl. I've posted many times about considering a tweed kilt to avoid the clan tartans and my craving for tweed. So this fulfills my need for tweed and several other things like that.
Now I need to come up with a pile of money.

Someday I'll have my own!!
I'm not sure which pleating type I want, though...

I went back and read the measurements she gave for the kilt because I was just looking for the description when I read the thread. Somebody is skinny with big hips...
You got a good deal on that kilt!! Good grief! I didn't even pay attention to what she was selling it for.

Guess I should confess that I am a 36 waist and 36 at the hips... But my bottom is 37!
