How about Jeep? The Navy had escort carriers (known as Jeep Carriers or Baby Flat Tops) built on liberty ship hulls (merchant vessels for you landlubbers). For those of you interested, Jeep probably came from the GP designation, (General Purpose) of the originals. (Of course there was a character in the Popeye comics called a "Jeep" too.
