Wives' reactions?

When my wife and I decided to get married last year, I told her that I would only get married in a kilt. She was okay with the idea. That is way we have such a good relationship because she accepts me for who I am. She went with me when I ordered it, and again when I picked it up about 3 months later. She also picked out all of my accessories a couple of months before the wedding. We were married on 4/12/08 of this year. All of the men in the bridal party wore kilts too. We have not agreed on anything since, (just kidding dear if you read this), but we did agree that the kilts made our wedding awesome.

My mother was not happy with the idea of me wearing a kilt before the wedding. She said that it would look retarded. I was unhappy with my mother at first, especially since I was wearing the tartan that her family is aligned with and not my father’s. However, she came around after she saw me and my brother wearing kilts. At that point she said that we both looked great in our kilts, and all was well at that point.

I have always been proud that I am Scottish, English, and Irish, and I always will. I hope to pass on that proud tradition to any kids that I may have in the future.

Apil 12 of this year? What a coincidence! I was in Phoenix that Saturday officiating a cousins wedding. Congratulations.

Well so far my wife has been supportive about my kilt wearing. In fact I have been mostly pants free for almost two months now. She tells me that as long as I am comfortable and happy than its ok.But she drops hints every so often about
how she want to see me wear pants once in a while.I said I will this winter
The only ones that can not except me in a kilt is my mother and younger brother, they both think that I am not all there and that I am to old to be wearing a kilt. My older son is not to excepting either. However my younger son also wears a kilt most of the time, he is also my 6 year old grandsons' idol, and he wants his own kilt as well just like his uncles.
The only problem I had with my kilt was at the airport. I got pulled aside and got patted down. The TSA that checked me said that the kilt was cool but had too many snaps.Of course the wife was embarrased for me .
For the most part she's been pretty good about the whole thing.

This is great! I've read through this thread several times and feel like it is a support group. Here I was, languishing away out here on the Western Slope of Colorado, feeling kinda lonely with the "bad vibes" from my wife about wearing my kilts with her. As I stated before in this thread, she is not too keen on being with me kilted in some, most, situations that would embarrass her. Not that it is good that some of you have the same problem, but it is good for my soul that someone else is experiencing, and dealing with, and moving on with the same situation. I feel much better now. Thanx folks!!!!
Just a side note..... This morning I was kilting up to take my wife down to catch the van that takes her to work. I was going to do some school supply shopping on the way back and as I was getting dressed she said "You're not wearing that, are you?" My first thought was "Oh no, here we go..." that she was referring to the kilt, BUT she was commenting on my choice of shirt I had picked out to go with my Black Stewart. I just grabbed a light blue polo and she thought that either the dark red or navy blue one would look better. This by no means that she is softening up to my being kilted with her. She just has better fashion sense than I do and at times helps me out when I'm getting ready for school by suggesting different combinations.
