Thanks for the links. Burnett's & Struth didn't show anything other than a PC and Argyll on their website, but I sent an email enquiring. The Geoffrey (Tailor) site has something they call a 21st Century Kilt Jacket, unfortunately the photo on their site is far too dark, and you can't make out any of the details.
I'm also just considering getting a Prince Charlie, removing all the silver buttons, and replacing the front ones with black modern suit buttons. Do you think this would look odd? That's really my objection to the standard PC, is that the silver buttons give it a military feel.

Unfortunately, they don't have a picture of the mess jacket on their site. It looks like a short single-breasted tuxedo jacket. The 21st Century kilt jacket is more like a cross between a normal suit jacket and an Argyll.

I agree with Ted. An Eton jacket is a good choice.
