With the greatest of respect Gunnar, no kilt that I have ever seen, that is quite a few, in the last 60 something years, has ever had a fringed selvedge no matter which tartan.

Well the kilts from USA kilts do some of them do and I was hoping that the Colquhoun from them doesn't have one and now I know it does not

Well we are way off topic here,OOOPS! Anyway, alright I am not too proud to learn something new. I have just had a wee look at the USA kilt website and there is no mention, that I could see, of a fringed selvedge. However there is mention of a fringed front apron, not the same thing at all.Now as I understand it and long experience tells me that THAT PARTICULAR FRINGE goes at right angles to the selvedge and is the bit on the right of your kilt(running top to bottom) near where you put a kilt pin in. I wonder if we are at cross purposes here?

By no means I intend to hijack this thread but I only want to have these things clear. Here ( http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/d...140/index.html ) you can see the fringed bottom selvedge of the front apron and I've seen alot of the USA Kilts that have those.
