I think flatcaps look great, on other people. I don't have the head for one and I've never liked the look of them on me.

I worked in a institutional kitchen for quite some time. One day, the boss decided that we'd all wear white flatcaps as part of our uniforms, bought them, passed them out and patted himself on the back. And I refused to wear it. I wore the ball cap instead. He threatned, he yelled and finally wrote me up. I said it wasn't necessary, I quit.

That wasn't the only reason though. But it sure was fun...

It is an Inverness "ultimate" Cape from "Mister Anthony"

Here in Seattle it is a nessesity, along with a good hat.
