    Kilts in Westerns

I've not seen one, but I'd be interested in the rabble's experience.

Is there a western where a kilted gentleman (or not-so-gentle man) makes an appearance?

    Not that I know of.

    I watch a lot of westerns and I haven't seen a kilt.

Who knows there might be one.

I'll be wackered if I can remember the film's name, it was one of those "Young Guns" type from the 80's but one of the bad guys from old Lincoln County Wars was shown wearing a kilt and a pair of six shooters. Of course the charactors name was Scotty, as I recall he gets shot by The Kid breaking out of jail. This might be truer to history than fiction as many of the players in the real Lincoln county wars were Scottish herdsmen.

Here is the only thing I've found so far (thanks JS Sanders)

Wagon Train - An American Television show from the '50s or 60's. In one episode there were Scottish immigrants on the train when Indians attacked. The Scotsmen, donned highland attire, played their pipes and scared the Indians away.

    Any thing else?

Only thing my web-surfing found was also a TV episode - episode #152 of the American TV series, The Cisco Kid, first aired on 23 Feb. 1956. The title for this episode is, Kilts and Sombreros. (Oops, maybe I shouldn't have printed that; it might give Jamie ideas! ith: )

I haven't been able to locate a picture from this episode, but here's a synopsis of the episode. I'm guessing MacDougall would be the one sporting a kilt.

"In this episode of the television series, The Cisco Kid, a young boy (Barry Froner) and his uncle MacDougall (Ian Murray) have been robbed. The boy thinks poorly of his uncle until the Cisco Kid comes and tells the boy that his uncle is a great man. Western, 26 min., 16mm, dir: Lambert Hillyer."

Happiness? I'd settle for being less annoyed!!!

A few years ago there was a (Canadian I think) mini series remake of Little House on the Prairie, and there was a neighbor who was kilted (and a Scot obviously).
