    Well,
I normally wear them with my mlitary style outfit (WWII KD shirt with my Black Watch Kilt) I pipe 7 days a week at a local resort here, and was thinking about different types of outfits I could wear, also not just for piping, and I thought it would be differnt, especially if worn outside the OD color scheme, however, even my civiian attire will have my Liverpool Scottish theme to it, with unit badges and such....thought a Civi style puttee would be kind of cool...just a thought...thats why I thought I'd see what others thought of the idea.

If you're trying to put together an impression of a specific unit and/or time period, I would stick with military issue gear that would be appropriate to that unit.
