Looks okay, but I'd suggest a white shirt (traditional "after 6pm" attire, and more appropriate for going to the theatre) and the tie of your choice.

You already have addressed the sporran issue

I have to go with MoR

I think that a white shirt would make the outfit perfect.

    Cheers

With due respect for the above, and realizing that what I offer is merely one man's opinion, I say stick with the black shirt. It may not be traditional, but I think the look works for you.

You already have a sporran fix in the works, so I'd say you're on the right track.

    Enjoy the show!

    Hi Tim!
I don't have any problems with Chasem's look (nor did Panache), it's just that social conventions call for a white shirt after 6pm, especially if one is "out on the town" and that includes the theatre. Coloured shirts are fine for day wear or casual evening wear (like going out for a drink with the guys), but they never look as "crisp" as a fresh white shirt, especially when going someplace nice.

Finally, a black shirt worn with a black or charcoal jacket and waistcoat "kills" the look of everything above the kilt, with the exception of the tie, which it then over-emphasizes. A white shirt, in this instance, would provide the right degree of focus on the tie and nicely frame the face, rather than making the head look like a pumpkin sitting on a fence.

Coloured shirts work best during the day when there is more natural light to bring out the colour and texture of the various fabrics being worn. Even then, I would be very cautious about wearing a black shirt. I think they can be very striking, especially when worn without a jacket, or if worn with a very light coloured jacket and black trousers, but I really don't think they work at all well with black or dark jackets.

I do, however, think the "Wicked" green tie would be a subtle bit of sly humour-- how clever of "auld argonian" to suggest it!

I'm not sure I know how to take that

I got to thinking, with the ties at that price, maybe a tie in wicked green, and one or two extra so I can butcher them and make flashes to match? Thoughts?

MoR is on the money here.

You look fine and there is nothing wrong with the look you have put together.

However as I look at your picture this is what I see.

You have this nice jacket, waistcoat, and dress shirt on, but because they are all in black from the waist up they blur together without a lot of distinction.

A white shirt will help make the nice waistcoat stand out.

    Cheers

    Jamie
